Agency Credo:
If I am not for myself, who will be for me?
If I am only for myself, what am I?
If not now, when?
Hillel, 1st century Rabbi and teacher
Mission
The Jewish Community Relations Bureau/American Jewish Committee's mission is to fight anti-semitism and bigotry; to represent the Jewish community in building bridges with government officials, other faith and ethnic groups, business and civic leaders, the media, law enforcement agencies, educators, and the minority communities to develop communication and understanding; to be the primary advocate on behalf of Israel in efforts to secure peace and understanding.
History and Organization of the JCRB/AJC
Established in 1944, the Jewish Community Relations Bureau/American Jewish Committee combines the resources of the American Jewish Committee, the premier national Jewish community relations agency, with the expertise and experience of many of Kansas City's most outstanding Jewish leaders.
The policies and programs of the JCRB/AJC are determined by a Board of Directors. While the JCRB/AJC's primary focus is the Kansas City metropolitan area, its responsibilities include the entire state of Kansas and western Missouri. The JCRB/AJC is a committee of the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City.
