Mission to Cuba

Contact Derek Gale

Join Jewish Federation and our overseas partner, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), as we travel to Cuba to learn more about the island’s Jewish community, its needs, and the sustaining of Jewish life there via JDC.

Spending Wednesday, Sept. 18, through Saturday, Sept. 22, in Havana will provide an opportunity for a briefing from the president of Cuba’s Jewish community, and the chance to visit both the Sephardic synagogue and the traditional Orthodox synagogue, a Sunday school, a community center with an impressive Jewish library, and the Jewish cemetery with the first Holocaust memorial built in the western hemisphere.

We’ll experience a meaningful Shabbat, including services and dinner with the community, as well as an Israeli dance troupe performance. And of course, there will be plenty of time to relax, enjoy the warm weather, enjoy great food and drinks, and explore your own passions. Click here to view our full itinerary.

Costs — including flights, hotel, all food, ground transportation, tours, guides, etc. — will range from $2,700 to $3,000 per person (based on double or single occupancy). Initial deposits of $300 per person will be due by April 15, along with the application/registration form.

Return these forms to Derek Gale, Director of Community Building & Allocations, or contact Derek for more information at 913.327.8123 or
