Mindful Eating: Insights for Everyday Life

Women’s Philanthropy of Jewish Federation invites women to attend its annual L’Chaim event, which gives women the chance to enjoy a special evening of learning and fun. This year’s event includes wine, tapas, and an experiential workshop on mindful eating. During the workshop, women will learn and practice a technique called the BASICS of Mindful Eating, and will discuss current research demonstrating success in helping individuals promote a better relationship between food and their bodies.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from Dr. Lynn Rossy, one of the foremost experts in the field on mindful eating. She is engaging, informative, and makes mindfulness enjoyable and attainable,” said Joyce Hess, one of this year’s L’Chaim co-chairs.

“In addition to practicing mindful eating and learning to apply it to our own lives, I am also looking forward to enjoying tapas and wine with a great group of women. In our busy lives, the opportunity to socialize with other like-minded women is also important to our well-being and our feeling of connectedness to our community,” said L’Chaim co-chair Rita Sudhalter.

Rossy (pictured left), who is the Vice President of the Center for Mindful Eating - an international non-profit organization that trains professionals in the field of mindful eating, is also the author of The Mindfulness-Based Eating Solution: Proven Strategies to End Overeating, Satisfy Your Hunger, and Savor Your Life. Her book was named one of the top ten mindfulness books of 2016 by Mindful.org, and will be available for purchase and signing after the workshop.

The event, created specially for women ages 40-plus, takes place Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at 6:30 p.m., in a private home in Overland Park. Cost of the event is $18 per person. Event location will be provided upon RSVP. Click here to register, or contact Kori LePage at 9
